The knock on effect

It’s always a pleasure to read the voyage reports that come in after a group of sailors returns, especially if it has been the first time out on the water for these young people. What was particularly noticeable in the comments that came back from the young people who sailed with a group from the Mancroft Advice Project (MAP) this year was that they had become generally more active since their voyage. In fact all of them noted that they are now nearly twice as active as they were before their offshore sailing trip. At a time when nearly a third of adults live with obesity in England, with obesity rates having doubled since 1993, it’s refreshing to see that a knock on effect from a voyage seems to be an uptick in general activity for all those young people that take part.
On this particular voyage, on board with The Cirdan Trust, five of the young people gained their ‘Competent Crew’ award and a further six gained their ‘Start Yachting’ award but ALL of them have become more active as a result, very plain to see in these wonderful photos from their voyage :
Thank you to The Norfolk Superhero Fund via The Norfolk Community Foundation which generously helped us support this voyage.
