And a BBQ for good measure
Wonderful photos here from one of our first voyages of the year. A group of 7 young people from YMCA Trinity sailed on board Cirdan Trust’s Queen Galadriel from North Fambridge in Essex to Brightlingsea, Bradwell-on-Sea and along the River Roach.

As it was April, they had a mixed bag on the weather front with strong winds for the most part but they coped admirably and clearly put their cooking skills to good use. Our voyages, after all, are only partly about the sailing.
This group was of young people aged between 16 and 24 and currently experiencing homelessness, some are care leavers others are unaccompanied asylum seekers. This was going to be an important week for them all. Best summed up perhaps by Efua who led the group from YMCA Trinity on this voyage :
“I wanted to take this opportunity to extend our sincere appreciation and thanks to Charlotte, Raury and Simon for a wonderful 7-day voyage. The young people thoroughly enjoyed the experience and have taken away many valuable life lessons and practical skills, some of which we are already seeing being applied within the accommodation.
The trip has been truly eye-opening for them and has sparked meaningful reflection. In particular, two of the residents have expressed an interest in exploring future opportunities in volunteering or apprenticeships as a result of their experience.
Thank you again for helping to facilitate such a positive and impactful opportunity.”
